THE BOAT
Designed and built by a team of expert sailors, the Electra Sport was introduced during the 1993 Toronto (Canada) Boatshow. Since then, this racy, sleek looking mini-yacht has commanded attention wherever she goes.
The design concept originated from realizing that many successful sailors were no longer willing to spend lots of money and time to campaign an expensive yacht requiring large crews.
They were dreaming of a fast, and exciting, easy-to-sail yet stable keelboat. The Electra Sport is the answer.
Originally designed to be a singlehanded (full battened mainsail and self-tacking jib) with the occasional “recreational” sail with family and friends. We quickly identified a desire by those who sailed the boat to expand the Electa Sport into a yacht that can keep a keen crew busy.
Thus a 130% optional genoa and a 245 square foot spinnaker were added.
Subsequently the Electra Sport can be sailed and raced either as a singlehander or by a crew of two or three, depending upon the sail configuration.
RACE & REC
Her outstanding performance was rewarded with astonishing race results, both here in Canada as well as in Europe. She was successfully raced under PHRF and MORC ratings.
Even though the Electra Sport’s modern and elegant lines suggest her to be a “speedster”, family and recreational sailing were clearly an important consideration in her design.
The deck layout is clean and efficient. All lines are leading aft to the cockpit. A below deck jib furler, self-tacking jib, fully biradial mainsail with lazy jacks(for ease of lowering the sail), an outboard motor bracket molded into the transom and much more are all standard equipment. The cabin below can be used for storage and shelter, but also doubles as sleeping accomodations for two adults.
SPECIFICATIONS
Weighing only 850 lbs. the Electra Sport can easily be towed by a car to your favorite sailing waters. Rigging or de-rigging is never a problem and can be achieved in minutes. The foot of the deck stepped mast pivots and with the shrouds still in place the mast can either be raised or lowered by simply releasing the forestay.
Built in Canada using the latest technologies and finest materials (high tech sandwich method, hand laidup using roving and isotopic resin over 3/8 balsa core) provides ultimate strength yet light weight. The Electra Sport is a proven winner.
